On The Issues
Matt Gunterman announced his campaign for judge/executive of McLean County because he sees a profound need for change in county government.
He offers the voters a robust alternative to the present administration. Gunterman is a candidate of experience and accomplishment who will promote McLean County across the Commonwealth.
Traditional Democrat values of progress, opportunity, and community serve as the foundation for the campaign. Gunterman's Democratic Party is one that centers on the hopes of Kentuckians and the potential of individuals. It is the party of individual responsibility and opportunity, and it believes that the role of government is to help people as they strive to meet their responsibilities and achieve their goals.
The Gunterman campaign will have the future of McLean County as its focus. County government today lacks direction and has no vision for our future. Gunterman will make McLean County a center of innovation for all rural Kentucky. With his leadership, we will become a model rural community for the state.
Gunterman will work to restore county relations with the city of Owensboro, which have been severely undermined by the current judge/executive (see: "McLean Shouldn't Cut Ties with Daviess," Messenger-Inquirer, 28 April 2005, article in PDF ).
He will work for and promote the county's individual towns and communities equally. He will implement a fair tax system and represent the interests of our industries and workers.
At the heart of the Gunterman campaign is a concern for the future of our children, for the welfare of our seniors, and the conditions of the poor.
In the end, Gunterman will return county government to the hands of the people, and together we will build a strong community that is prepared to prosper in future generations.
